The PQS2D team gathered at the University of Ottawa to discuss recent developments in the field, with around 70 participants attending the one-day event.
Co-applicants shared the latest research advancements and delivered exciting lectures, including “Topological Condensed Matter In and Out of Equilibrium” by Dr. Tami Pereg-Barnea (McGill University) and “Probing the Corners of Charge Transport in Monolayer Graphene” by Dr. Thomas Szkopek (McGill University). Dr. Hang Chi (University of Ottawa) also delivered an insightful guest lecture titled “Tetradymite Thermoelectrics and Topological Insulators.”
Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) had the opportunity to present short talks, including “Synthetic Hubbard Model Using Gated Quantum Dots and Twisted 2D Materials” by Daniel Miravet (Dr. Pawel Hawrylak’s group, University of Ottawa), “Theory of Quantum Materials” by Haoting Xu (Dr. Hae-Young Kee’s group, University of Toronto), and “Methods for Correlated Materials and Some Applications” by Camille Lahaie, Nicolas Martin, and Abhishek Kumar (Dr. André-Marie Tremblay’s group, University of Sherbrooke).
Poster sessions provided a platform for HQP to showcase their latest work.
An exciting poster competition was also organized.
One-on-one collaboration meetings allowed co-applicants and HQP to exchange ideas. Bring your own CV for review sessions provided valuable insights to MaQTech trainees.
The event concluded with a dinner at the “Working Title Kitchen”.
